Degree Requirements Overview

A foundation for medicine

The Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medical Sciences, Internal Medicine Track, is a 120-credit-hour undergraduate pre-medical pathway. It develops the scientific knowledge, clinical reasoning, communication, and ethical foundations needed to prepare for medical-school study.

This degree does not confer a medical degree or specialty certification. Internal medicine specialization occurs after undergraduate study through medical school, residency, and applicable licensure requirements.

Track Comparison

Internal Medicine or General Medicine

The Internal Medicine (INTM) track provides a focused undergraduate lens on adult medicine, complex chronic conditions, organ-system integration, diagnostic reasoning, and evidence-based care.

The General Medicine pathway offers a broader undergraduate survey of clinical medical sciences across patient populations and care settings. It is designed for students seeking flexible preparation before choosing a medical-school specialty.

Both pathways are undergraduate pre-medical programs. Medical-school admission, specialty selection, residency training, and professional licensure occur after completion of the bachelor’s degree.

Program distinction

Students should work with academic advising to align course selections, experiential learning, and medical-school prerequisites with their professional goals.
