Use these guides to understand common financial-aid document requests. Requirements and next steps can vary by student.

Verification worksheets

If selected for verification, complete the requested worksheet carefully and compare your answers with the FAFSA information on file.

IRS and tax verification

Gather the tax return, W-2 forms, and other income records requested for the applicable tax year. Follow the instructions in your notice before providing tax information.

Appeal forms

If your financial circumstances have changed, review the appeal instructions and prepare documentation that explains the change. Submission and review procedures may vary.

Dependency overrides

Students with unusual family circumstances may be asked for a written statement and supporting records. A dependency override is reviewed individually and is not automatic.
