About the Course
This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the history of justice, exploring the evolution of laws and rights from ancient civilizations to the present day. Students will gain an understanding of the ways in which justice has been interpreted and applied throughout history, and the different legal systems that have been developed through the ages. The course will cover the development of criminal and civil justice systems, as well as the history of legal rights, from the Magna Carta to the American Declaration of Independence. We will also examine the development of human rights, the various philosophies behind justice, and the impact that religion and politics have had on the development of justice.
The course will also explore the role of the judiciary in the development of laws and rights, and the role of the legal profession in the interpretation of justice. Students will be encouraged to think critically about the development of justice, and will be asked to consider the implications of justice on our modern society. Finally, students will be required to produce a short research paper on a topic related to the history of justice. This course is designed for students who have an interest in understanding the development of justice, its implications on society, and the role of the legal profession in the interpretation of justice.
